The American Medical Directors Association is the professional association of medical directors and physicians practicing in the long-term care continuum, dedicated to excellence in patient care by providing education, advocacy, information and professional development.
The national organization was chartered in 1978 and is governed by a Board of Directors. AMDA is recognized as a specialty society by the American Medical Association and the American Society of Internal Medicine. Recognizing that the vast majority of medical directors also serve as attending physicians, the association’s activities reflect the issues relevant to its membership.
The New Jersey State Chapter, established in 1995, is dedicated to work toward the same same goals.
